Kinn sentenced to 52 years for murder, kidnapping, sexual assault

Menton, Hill lead Bemidji State men's golf team in spring opener

The Bemidji State University men's golf team opened its 2012 spring season March 18-19 with a sixth-place finish in the Prairie Star Shootout in Pelkin, Ill.

The Beavers were led by Danny Menton and Casey Hill who tied for ninth place individually at 8 over 152.

Menton and Hill finished the 36-hole tournament three strokes off the lead set by medalist Shane McCaffertey of the University of Illinois-Springfield.

The Beavers' team score of 619 (43 over par) matched Concordia-St. Paul and McKendree University for sixth, just two strokes behind Upper Iowa which was the top NSIC team in the field.

Illinois-Springfield shot 602 to win the tournament and enjoyed a nine-shot lead over runnerup Drury.

Bemidji State's next action is March 30-April 1 when the team travels to the Wayne State Invitational.
