Men's hockey: WCHA officials to introduce new commissioner Tuesday

ST. PAUL -- WCHA men’s hockey officials have called a press conference for 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Xcel Energy Center to announce the new commissioner of the league.

The new commissioner will replace Bruce McLeod who headed the WCHA for 20 years. Prior to this season McLeod announced that he would be stepping down at the end of the year and WCHA officials began the national search for his replacement.

McLeod said he plans to work part time in his retirement. He has talked to a couple of NHL teams as well as friends who work in the Denver business community.

“I know one thing,” McLeod recently said. “Here’s the biggest thing: I don’t want to be in charge of anything. I don’t want to be in charge. I want someone to tell me what to do.”
