MEN'S HOCKEY: BSU/UND series not sold out just yet
BEMIDJI — This weekend’s home-and-home hockey series between Bemidji State and North Dakota hasn’t sold out yet, but fans wanting to attend either game shouldn’t wait around for tickets.
Friday night’s game will be played at Bemidji’s Sanford Center at 7:37 p.m. and the teams will load up the buses and head 115 miles down U.S. Highway 2 for Saturday’s contest at Grand Forks’ Ralph Engelstad Arena at 7:07 p.m.
Garrett Kollin, ticketing/marketing manager at the Sanford Center, said as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, there were just more than 400 tickets left for Friday’s game.
“It’s not many, but we still have some left,” Kollin said, noting the rumor that the series was already sold out was false. “But we hope to be sold out by the end of the week.”Kollin said if enough people buy tickets they may choose to open up additional standing-room-only seating for the game. The arena has only done that one other time — when Minnesota came to Bemidji last March.Student tickets, he said, were sold out but some may become available on game day.“If we get some no-shows we may sell a limited number of student tickets that day,” he said. The BSU Campus Activities Board, Beaver Dam Fan Club and Student Alumni Association are planning a “Beaver Rival Rally” at the arena before the game. The event is free to all students and the first 100 will receive a T-shirt.BSU fans planning to attend Saturday’s game in Grand Forks should also be able to find tickets available, according to Heather Reardon, box office manager at Ralph Engelstad Arena. But fans should act fast.“I would expect a sellout,” she said. “We’re not quite there yet but they’ll go fast.”Tickets for both games in the series can be purchased on Ticketmaster or by calling the respective box offices. The BSU alumni association is also sponsoring a pregame event for BSU fans and alumni for Saturday’s game at the Blue Moose in East Grand Forks; a shuttle will be available for fans to and from the restaurant to the arena.
