With the loss, BSU ends the regular season in a three-way tie with St. Cloud State and MSU Moorhead for first place in the NSIC North Division standings. The loss also hurt BSU’s chances of earning the top seed for the North Division. The NSIC playoffs open 7 p.m. Wednesday and the Beavers (18-8, 15-7 NSIC) will have a home game but their path to the conference playoff championship became rougher after losing Friday at UMD and Saturday at St. Cloud.

Damarius Cruz scored eight points in the game’s first 11 minutes to guide the Huskies to a 21-6 lead over the Beavers, who made just three of their first 16 shots from the floor.

Senior Jake Schalow brought BSU within 10 points at 30-20 with a three-pointer but SCSU answered with a pair of baskets to push it back to 34-20 with 1:50 left in the first half.

Junior Brock Lutes hit a running three-pointer to beat the first half horn but the Huskies still owned a 36-25 cushion at the break.

The Beavers were held to just 28.6 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.

Lutes and Schalow got BSU’s offense going with a pair of three-pointers early in the second half, but Jordan Poydras stole the show by burying three consecutive three-pointers to spark a 15-0 run that extended the SCSU lead to 58-33 with 14:45 remaining.

The Huskies quickly pushed their lead over 30 points and never looked back.

Poydras led all scorers with 30 points on 9-of-15 shooting and five made three-pointers.

Lutes led the Beavers with 19 points.
