MEN'S BASKETBALL: Northern Iowa pulls away in second half to beat Bemidji State in exhibition

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Senior forward Maxie Rosenbloom scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds but the Bemidji State men’s basketball team lost its exhibition game 71-48 against Division I Northern Iowa Friday.

The Beavers trailed just 26-23 at halftime despite shooting just 27.6 percent and turning the ball over nine times.

But Northern Iowa pulled away in the second half, jumping out to an 11-point lead at 34-23 just 1 minute, 36 seconds, into the second frame.

Transfer forward Brock Lutes was the only other Beaver in double figures, scoring 12 points and going 3-for-8 from 3-point range. Senior Jake Schalow posted a 3-for-3 performance from beyond the arc for nine points.

BSU has two and a half weeks before its next game. The Beavers begin the 2013-14 regular season Nov. 13 against Mayville State.
