BEMIDJI — Brock Lutes can add another accolade to his already-impressive first season on the BSU men’s basketball team.

The transfer junior from Portland, Ore., was named to the Daktronics All-Central Region Second Team Thursday, the fourth player in program history to earn all-region status.

Lutes, who was named NSIC Newcomer of the Year and to the All-NSIC First Team earlier this season, won the league’s scoring title with 22.2 points per game in his debut season.

In conference games, he also led the league with 175 field goals made, helping him reach 488 points, which is the third most points scored in a conference season dating back to 1953-54.

In all games, Lutes had 574 points (21.3 ppg) to rank seventh on BSU’s single-season scoring chart. His 21.3 points per game currently stands 24th in NCAA Division II.

He added 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.9 steals per game and shot 38.4 percent from 3-point land and 85.3 percent from the charity stripe.

Lutes follows Charles Hanks, James Ellisor and Bryce Tesdahl as BSU players to represent BSU on the Daktronics Central Region Teams.

Minnesota State Mankato guard Zach Monaghan was named Daktronics Central Region Player of the Year.

Five total other NSIC players were named all-region including Lutes, Monaghan, MSU’s Assem Marei, Upper Iowa’s Joey Woods and Augustana’s Casey Schilling.
