MEN'S BASKETBALL: Bemidji State picks up sixth straight victory

BISMARCK, N.D. -- BSU overcame a halftime deficit to earn a sixth consecutive victory as it defeated University of Mary 68-59 Friday in Bismarck, N.D.

Senior forwards Zach Noreen and Maxie Rosenbloom led the way as the each posted a double-double in the win.

Noreen scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, while Rosenbloom added ten points and ten boards.

Jalen Jaspers and Marc Musungayi combined to score 11 points to help give the Marauders a 13-10 lead after the first ten minutes of play.

Rosenbloom and Jake Schalow got back-to-back baskets for the Beavers to take a 14-13 lead, but it was their last lead of the first half.

U-Mary clinged on to a 30-28 lead at the break.

BSU missed on all nine of its three-point attempts in the first half.

Schalow ended the drought with a three-pointer and Brock Lutes followed with a three-point on a layup where he was fouled to regain the lead a 36-32 for the Beavers.

The Marauders held a lead momentarily, but the Beavers answered with a 12-2 run over the next five minutes to build a 54-45 lead with 7:50 left in the game.

BSU extended its lead to double digits in the closing minutes of the game and held on for the win.

Musungayi led all scorers with 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting for the Marauders.

Lutes led the Beavers with 17 points.

BSU (13-4 10-3 NSIC) will try for a seventh straight win against Minot State at 6 p.m. today.
