Melinda "Mindy" Bowman

Melinda "Mindy" Bowman, 59, of Bemidji, MN died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at her home.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Bemidji with Pastor Gay Albers officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Melinda Ann Kunz was born February 21, 1954 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert Louis and Donna (Berggren) Kunz. She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1972 and Concordia College in 1976. Mindy was an original Washington staff member for Congressman Arlan Stangland in 1977, worked on the Ronald Reagan campaign working with Elizabeth Dole, and worked for the Deputy Secretary of transportation. In 1981, she returned to Bemidji to help her mother with her business, Minnesota Wood Products, where she just completed 33 years. Mindy was a member of the Business and Professional Women (now known as Minnesota Business Women) where she held many positions at local and state levels. She was also a member of the Bemidji Eagles Club and the United Methodist Church. Mindy was co-chair of the Headwaters Quilt Guild at her time of death. Many good friends were made with those who shared the love of quilting.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Don Bowman of Bemidji; sons, Dustin Bowman of Mankato and Chris Bowman of Minneapolis; brothers, Gary (Diana) Kunz and Tim (Carlene) Kunz both of Bemidji; step-children, Nicole (Jason) Nordby, Tom (Whitney) Bowman and Katie Bowman and mother-in-law, Agnes Bowman of Fergus Falls.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Art & Edna Kunz and Chester and Millie Berggren; step-grandpa, William R. Williams; father Robert; mother Donna and brother, Lawrence Joel Kunz.
