McIntosh man injured in two-vehicle crash; Fosston man escapes injury

An 18-year-old Fosston man escaped injuries in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Pennington County. Two others suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including a McIntosh man.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Thief River Falls:

Cohen J. Curfman was driving a 2000 Dodge Intrepid eastbound on First Street as he began to make a right-hand turn onto Pennington Avenue. Andrew J. Hart, 28, of Thief River Falls, was driving a 2007 Ford northbound on Pennington Avenue.

Curfman reached down for an object, lost control and collided with the Ford. The accident was reported at 5:16 p.m. The road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.

Hart and a passenger in Curfman's vehicle, 22-year-old Travis J. Schmidtgall of McIntosh suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Hart was taken to MeritCare Thief River Falls Northwest Medical Center. It was unclear if Schmidtgall was taken to a medical facility.

Both Curfman and Hart were wearing seat belts. It was unknown if Schmidtgall was wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage.

Assisting at the scene were the Pennington County Sheriff's Office and Thief River Falls Police Department.
