Mavis Clemenson, 91, of Bemidji, MN, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at her home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, Bemidji with her grandson, Pastor Gus Booth officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2013 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
Mavis Lorraine Berg was born September 28, 1921 in Trail, MN to Peter and Clara (Clauson) Berg. As a young girl she moved to Gonvick, MN and graduated from Gonvick High School. She met and married Gus Clemenson July 6, 1940 in International Falls, MN. Mavis enjoyed some travel including a trip to a great-grandchilds wedding at age 89. She loved doing the crosswords and could answer the clues until recently. She maintained her sense of humor throughout her life and loved to read. She was a private person who enjoyed her family and the inherent tactics that come with seeing the generational changes. She loved to dance, in fact clogged with a group until she was 75. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, past President of the Legion Auxiliary, member of the Sons of Norway and the Elks (Does).
She is survived by her children, G. Richard (Kathy) Clemenson of Detroit Lakes, Bette (Mark Jones) Clemenson of Cedar, MN, Sue Lyseng of Bemidji and Jerri (Steve) Booth of Gonvick; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Clemenson of Clearbrook and Joyce Hart of Clearbrook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gus; brother, Duane Berg; grandchildren, Robert David Clemenson and Roland Derek Lyseng.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Heart Association.
