CASS LAKE – The Cabela’s Masters Walleye circuit tournament on Cass Lake begins Friday and the public is invited to watch the weigh-in at Stony Point Resort.

The event offers competition on Friday and Saturday for the two-person teams. Sunday will be reserved in case foul weather prevents the teams from fishing either of the first two days.

Teams are allowed to bring their best five walleyes to the scale each day and the team with the heaviest two-day total will walk away with top honors and more than $11,000 of the more than $32,000 overall purse.

When the Cabela’s MWC visited Cass Lake last September, South Dakotans Travor Diegel and Paul Steffen won with 28.64 pounds. They trolled spinners and plastics in deep water and topped the field of 63 boats.

The public is invited to the 4 pm. weigh-ins at Stony Point Resort. Children 12 and under are also invited to the youth and family clinic held immediately after the Day One weigh-in. The clinic will include presentations by the professional anglers plus a variety of prizes.

The Cass Lake tournament is the ninth of the Cabela’s MWC 2012 circuit.
