Marlene Reppert, 72, of Dutton, Mont., formerly of Laporte, died of natural causes on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at Laporte Community Baptist Church.
She was born July 3, 1936, to John and Anna Fallgren in Bemidji. She was raised and educated in the Laporte and Benedict area. She attended beauty school in Duluth, Minn.
She married Terry Reppert in California in 1967. The couple moved back to Minnesota to raise their family.
She spent many years as the head cook at the Laporte School. She also worked for her entire career as a cook and baker at several restaurants in the area and Camp Thunderbird near Bemidji. She ended her career as a cook at the JB Long Ranch in Augusta, Mont., where she cooked for the ranch hands and became a surrogate "mom" to the cowboys.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Deborah (Dan) Morrill of Dutton and Tammy (Jim) Tisland of Hines; a sister, Agnes Miller of Benedict; brothers, Carl Fallgren of Hacienda Heights, Calif., and Harold Fallgren of Silver Bay; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Reiser; brothers, Ed and Leo Fallgren and a sister, Lilly Hutchinson.
