Marion L. Lage, 82, of Pelican Rapids, died on Monday, August 25, 2008, at Innovis Health in Fargo.

Marion Louise Sherbrooke was born the daughter of Edward and Alvina (Peterson) Sherbrooke on March 11, 1926, in Pelican Rapids. She was baptized and confirmed at Lake Ida Lutheran Church, near Cormorant. She graduated from Audubon High School in 1944. She also attended a teachers' training college in Fergus Falls.

After graduating, Marion taught school in a one-room schoolhouse near Vergas. On June 1, 1946, Marion married George Lage in Detroit Lakes. After their marriage, Marion and George farmed in the Cormorant area. Marion also worked for several years at the Cormorant Store. George died Dec. 1, 1992. For the past few years, Marion lived in Pelican Rapids.

As a longtime member of Cormorant Lutheran Church, Marion was involved in several areas, including church circle, ladies aid and quilting for charity. She enjoyed volunteering at the Pelican Rapids Food Shelf and the Pelican Rapids Senior Citizen Center. Marion took pleasure in attending her grandchildren's athletic events. She was an avid reader, traveled frequently and liked to dance.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lage of Minneapolis; two sons: Gary (Dianne) Lage and Michael (Becky) Lage, both of Pelican Rapids; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Robert (Ann) Sherbrooke of Cormorant; and one sister-in-law, Adeline Sherbrooke of Cormorant.

Preceding Marion in death were her parents; husband; son, Greg Lage; and a brother, William Sherbrooke.

Visitation was to be from 5-7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and will resume for one hour prior to Thursday's services at the church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Cormorant Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, with the Rev. Gary Van Hunnik officiating. Burial will be in Lake Ida Cemetery, rural Lake Park.
