Marilyn L. Miller
Marilyn L. Miller, 86, of Bemidji, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at her daughter's home.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji with the Rev. John Werlein officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.
Pallbearers will be Scott Goth, Andy Goth, Adam Abbott, Cole Hardy, Jason Stang, Dylan Hardy and Cade Stang.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was born Aug. 17, 1922, to Edd and Edna (Clark) Yates in Mankato, Minn. She was nicknamed "Patty" by her father and many knew her as "Pat." She moved as a child to the Bemidji area completing school through the eighth grade. She met Walter H. Miller at a dance in Solway and their courtship continued at the weekly dances held at the Bemidji Armory. They married April 24, 1948, and resided in Grant Valley Township. They had their first of five children the following January. She was a farm wife and made homemade bread, butter, jams and jellies, and cinnamon rolls. She worked as the school cook at Edgewood School for many years until it closed in 1967.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidering and animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband; son, Eugene (Brenda) of Bemidji; daughters, Jackie of Bemidji and Joan (Myron) of Bemidji; brothers Gerald (Buster) of Louisiana and Robert of Texas; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Robert (Bobby) and Patricia; sisters, Faye, Mildred and Joyce; and brother, Floyd.
The family requests memorials to North Country Home Care and Hospice or Beltrami Humane Society.
