Marian Jean "Mumsey" Graves
Marian Jean "Mumsey" Graves, 88 years old, died peacefully July 14, 2013 in Eden Prairie, MN. Beloved Mumsey was born August 25, 1924 in Wauwatosa, WI to George and Alice Breitmeier. She was a long time resident of Bemidji, from 1971 to 1997, until moving to Eden Prairie. Born a Baptist, in 1954 she became a member of the Baha'i Faith and remained a devoted Baha'i for the remainder of her life. Marian began her career in nursing working in the maternity ward at Milwaukee County General. She had a love for animals, especially her cat Willi. She enjoyed writing, poetry, and reading books. Dancing at pow-wows and listening to the beautiful songs was a favorite pastime of hers. In 1989 she graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in English at age 65. Marian also served on the Northern MN Public Television Board, the American Indian Diversion Project and the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Beltrami County. Marian is preceded in death by her parents, sister Florence, son Gary, son-in-law John Berry, and step grandson John Dahlke. She is survived by daughters Cheryl Miller (Steve), Nanette Missaghi (Shahram), Colette "Tori" Dahlke (Russell). She is a proud grandmother to 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 12 step great-grandchildren. A private Baha'i burial was held at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.
