Marguerite "Peggy" Amelia Wallace, 92
Marguerite "Peggy" Amelia Wallace, 92, of Bemidji, formerly of Pennington, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, with the Rev. Vincent Miller officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
The pallbearers will be her nephews, Chris Brown, Patrick Brown, Tom Brown, Mike Brown, Ryan Brown and Colton Brown.
She was born May 13, 1916, to Louis and Blanche (Duddridge) Arndt in Vernon Center, Minn. She received her education in Austin, Minn. She married Charles F. Wallace on April 25, 1936, in Austin. They lived in Austin for 10 years, where they both worked at Hormel's. They moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where they owned a donut shop for four years. They moved back to Austin for a short time and then moved to Pennington in1952. She and her husband worked as caretakers and managed the Camp Cassaway Girl Scout Camp on Cass Lake for 20 years. They retired in Pennington. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and playing cards. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake for many years and the Ten Lake Community Card Club.
She is survived by her sisters, Edith Brown of Pennington and Agnes Rush of Austin; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in September 1974; parents; and brothers, Emil Arndt and Allen Arndt.
Memorials are preferred to North Country Hospice of Bemidji.
