She was born on April l, 1931, to Benjamin Franklin "Frank" and Electa Calista (Fox) Bauman, in Lake George. She attended public school through the eighth grade in Lake George. She went on to attend high school in Bemidji where she graduated with the Class of 1949. As a young woman, she cleaned cabins at Itasca State Park. She married Donald Eugene Edelman on Sept. 16, 1950, at the First Baptist Church in Park Rapids. They had 13 children. The couple went to Tacoma, Wash., where he worked on the railroad. Shortly after the birth of their first son, the family returned to the Lake Alice area where she made a home for her husband and growing family.

She will be long remembered for her home cooked meals, canning vegetables from her large garden, crocheting or quilting gifts for family and friends. Later, she went to work outside the home planting trees for the State of Minnesota and Hubbard County. Then, in 1978, when her children were older, she returned to work at Itasca State Park to a career that spanned more than 25 years working as a cook at Douglas Lodge. She was a woman of deep, quiet faith and enjoyed her time of worship and the fellowship of family and friends at the Lake George Bible Chapel. She loved the outdoors, especially the many summer picnics and camping trips with her family. She enjoyed one-on-one visits with each of her children, as well as the many huge family gatherings for holidays, birthdays and other special events. She always looked forward to weekend visits with her "adopted eldest son," Lyle Edelman and his wife, Carol.

She is survived by her daughters, Lois Holleman of Bemidji, LaVonne (Lance) Hites of Hope, N.D., Luanne (Rev. Tom) McGann of Washingtonville, N.Y. and Lynette (Rick) Endres of Rosemount, Minn.; sons, Lyle E.
