Margaret Louise Griebel, 86, of Bemidji passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at her home in Bemidji.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Rev. Harvey Kath officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm with a prayer service at 6 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Bemidji.
Margaret was born August 8, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of John F. and Margaret L. (Werner) Abeln. She was received into the kingdom of God through the waters of Holy Baptism at Timothy Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO, where she later confirmed her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She attended Lindenwood Elementary and Southwest High Schools in St. Louis. In April, 1945 she received her nursing degree from Washington University, St. Louis. She was united in marriage to Paul K. Griebel on June 4, 1950 and to this union six children were born. She served faithfully as a homemaker and pastors wife in Colby, KS and in Vernon Center, Mayer, Browns Valley and Bemidji, MN and as a missionary wife in Nigeria, Africa. She was a committed member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bemidji where she used her God-given talents in many ways. Margarets motto was I love my career; Im a volunteer! She volunteered at the North Country Regional Hospital for 33 years. She also volunteered for the Hospice program, Family Friends Organization for the Bemidji State University International Students, the Bemidji Library and the Bemidji Senior Center.
She is survived by three daughters: Karen (John) Radtke, Roscoe, IL, Kristine Teeny (Mike) Wavrin, Bemidji, Kathleen Kathy Borcherding, St. Louis, MO; three sons: Jonathan (Joan) Griebel, Maple Grove, MN, Kirk (Susan) Griebel, Owatonna, MN and Craig (Cheryl) Griebel, Peoria, IL; two sisters: Hazel Jane Noyes, St. Louis, and Betty (Jack) Buchschacher, St. Louis; one brother: Richard (Dottie) Abeln, St. Louis; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1992 and one brother.
