Former Detroit Lakes resident Marcia Muir Syfrit passed away on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at her home in Dandridge, Tenn.
She graduated from Detroit Lakes Senior High School in 1959. She was a Registered Nurse. She lived and worked in Silver City, N.M., for many years, until her retirement in 2005.
Marcia took her greatest pride in the raising of her children, but was also proud of her return to school and successful completion of her nursing training in her fifties, fulfilling a dream she had held most of her adult life. Her specialty was home health, and she quickly rose to the level of supervisor with her last employer, Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City.
She will be missed. Her easy laugh and joyous lifestyle were an inspiration to her family and co-workers alike.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Muir, who also resides in Dandridge; her sister Kim Scherer of Thomasville, Ga.; and her three children, Mark Lusty, Gabriel Syfrit and Michelle Syfrit, all of whom reside in Georgia; as well as five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
