Mankato man charged with battering 4-year-old
MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — A Mankato man is accused of beating his girlfriend's 4-year-old son and kicking a love seat on top of him.

Felony charges have been filed against 39-year-old Miguel Angel Beltran. The child's mother, Kinzie Keim, says Beltran told her last week that he lost control and threw the boy under a mattress in the living room, then kicked a small couch on top of him and jumped up and down on it. A complaint says Beltran pulled the child out from under the mattress and threw him on another couch.
The Free Presssays Keim told investigators Beltran watches her son and another child while she works during the day. The boy had scrapes and bruises.
