Man in serious condition following three-vehicle crash in Hubbard County
One man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday night in Lake Emma Township in Hubbard County.
According to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office:
A 2001 Dodge Intrepid driven by Drew Huntziger, 57, of Park Rapids, was traveling north on County Road 4 and crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic.
Huntziger sideswiped a southbound 1999 Ford pickup truck, which was pulling a 2000 BFCI tandem trailer, driven by Brandon Vredenburg, 28 of Menahga.
Huntziger's Intrepid then continued in the southbound lane and collided with a 1997 Dodge Neon driven by Zachary Hemenway, 19, of Park Rapids.
Hemenway's vehicle spun around and came to a rest on the southbound shoulder.
Huntziger was ejected from the Intrepid as it went into the southbound ditch.
Huntziger was found unconscious, suffering from severe head trauma, and was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids and then transported to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. He was listed in serious condition Friday.
Both Hemenway and Vredenburg reported no injuries.
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined. Weather conditions were poor at the time of the accident.
The accident remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol and the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office.
Also responding to the scene were personnel from the Park Rapids Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, North Memorial Ambulance, and Hubbard First Responders.
