Man pleads guilty to aiding man who robbed Bemidji store

MINNEAPOLIS – A 23-year-old Redby man pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to a charge of harboring a fugitive.

Andrew Oakgrove entered the plea to to one count of harboring and concealing a fugitive. He was indicted last December.

In his plea agreement, Oakgrove admitted that on April 30, 2012, he concealed Jason King from federal authorities. King was wanted on a federal arrest warrant for his indictment in connection to the Dec. 30, 2011, armed robbery of Newby’s Market in Bemidji.

Oakgrove also admitted leading police on a high-speed pursuit over several miles. Both men were arrested following the pursuit.

Oakgrove faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison for the charge. No date for that hearing has been set.

Last month, King was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the robbery in which hethreatened the store’s clerk with a loaded, short-barreled shotgun before leaving with nearly $1,500 from the store.
