Man linked to Breckenridge pharmacy standoff arrested
FARGO – The suspect in an alleged robbery Wednesday at a Breckenridge, Minn., pharmacy that triggered a three-hour police standoff was tracked down Thursday night in Fargo and found with prescriptions taken from the store, police said.
Christopher Ryan McCourt, 33, was charged Friday in Cass County District Court with theft of property, a Class C felony.
McCourt, who is on probation, was approached by officers from the Cass County Drug Task Force and North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation on Thursday after it was determined he was at Thrifty White Pharmacy around the time of the standoff, court documents say.
Officers reported finding two prescription bottles from the pharmacy in McCourt’s vehicle bearing the name Roxie LaFromboise and dated July 16, the day of the standoff. The bottles were confirmed stolen from the store by Breckenridge Police Chief Nate Harder.
McCourt admitted to officers that he took bottles that did not belong to him, court documents say.
On Wednesday, the pharmacy was evacuated after rumors that an armed man was still in the building. Officers responded but found no one inside.
Harder said he expects additional charges against McCourt in Minnesota.
