Man killed in farm accident near Paynesville

PAYNESVILLE — A 69-year-old Greenwald man died from injuries he suffered in a farm accident Wednesday morning north of Paynesville.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, John Schoenberg was struck by a large front-end loader driven by Victor Guevara Rojas, 39, of Albany, in Zion Township. The accident was reported around 8:15 a.m. Schoenberg was seriously injured and taken to the Paynesville hospital by ambulance.

The investigation revealed that Schoenberg had been walking in an area near a silage pit not normally used by pedestrians and Rojas was unable to see him.

The accident remains under investigation.
