The Minnesota State Patrol said Day was driving a 2000 Chrysler Voyager south on U.S. Highway 71 in Funkley when the vehicle left the road and overturned. The State Patrol received a call on the overturned vehicle at 4:52 p.m. Wednesday.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office assisted the State Patrol. Sheriff's records say Day was identified as the driver, but he wasn't immediately located. Day was found dead on Thanksgiving.
