Man arrested on drug charge following traffic stop
BEMIDJI – A traffic stop initiated by a Bemidji police officer resulted in a response from multiple cars in Nymore Thursday night.
At the incident’s end, 31-year-old Uri Moses Nusman was taken into custody and booked on a charge of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.
There was no high-speed pursuit, according to Chief Deputy Ernie Beitel of the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, but Nusman “may have had some thoughts about fleeing,” he said.
Following the arrest, police searched the yard of a home in the 400 block of Wood Avenue Southeast. It is not known what police were searching for, but there were reports of a weapon in the vehicle, Beltrami County Emergency Management Director Beryl Wernberg said.
Nusman’s dog, in the car with him at the time of his arrest, was taken to impound, Wernberg said.
