Man arrested in Aug. 8 stabbing in Backus

Daniel Robert Dirks, 32, of Minneapolis, has been formally charged with second-degree assault from an Aug. 8 stabbing of two males.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to an incident on Aug. 8 in Backus, where it was reported that Roland Leroy Michael Orth, 18, of Pine River, and a 17-year-old juvenile male, of Backus, had been stabbed by Dirks. The victims received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

Dirks is currently in custody in the Cass County Jail.
