Mahnomen man injured in accident near Ogema
A Mahnomen resident was injured in a sideswipe collision reported about 5:45 p.m. Friday near Ogema.
According to a Minnesota State Patrol out of Detroit Lakes:
Merlin Deegan, 47, of Mahnomen, was driving a 2009 Dodge Charger north on Highway 59, about 1.5 miles north of Ogema. Rebecca L. Villebrun, 51, of White Earth, was driving a 2003 Buick south on Highway 59 when she swerved into the northbound lane.
Deegan swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the Buick struck the left side of the Dodge. The vehicles ended up in separate ditches.
Deegan was treated and released following the accident. Villebrun was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Road conditions were reported to be dry at the time of the crash.
Assisting at the scene was the Becker County Sheriff's Department.
