Mahnomen County man dies in farm accident
At 9:47 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, the Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office received an emergency call from the Raymond Guenther farm reporting that Guenther was pinned under a tractor.
Mahnomen County Sheriff's deputies, White Earth Police, Mahnomen Fire Department and Mahnomen Health Center Ambulance found Guenther in a hayfield southeast of the farmstead. He was trapped between the rear fender of the tractor and a hay baler.
Guenther, 82, was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation indicated that Guenther was between the tractor and hay baler while the tractor was in motion. The report stated it is unknown whether Guenther fell from the moving tractor or if the tractor moved while he was working between the tractor and the baler.
Guenther's body was transported to the University of North Dakota Forensic Pathology Department in Grand Forks where an autopsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of death.
