Mable Steele, 85, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, June 23, 2013 in her home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sugar Bush Township Cemetery, Beltrami County, MN.
Mable May Long was born March 19, 1928 in Sugar Bush Township to Douglas and Stella (Morris) Long. She grew up and attended school in Sugar Bush Township. She worked as a caregiver and at Sugar Bush Resort on Big Lake, MN. On March 4, 1948 she married Burton Steele in Bemidji. She raised her family and her two sisters after their mother died. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, going to garage sales and going to lunch with her family.
She is survived by her husband Burton Steele of Bemidji; 2 daughters, Lilly (Ken) Toftum of Bemidji and Elaine (Mike) Warpula of Hibbing; 2 sons, Larry Steele and Mike Steele both of Bemidji; 13 grandchildren: 19 great-grandchildren and many foster grandchildren; 3 brothers, Donald (Judy) Long of Bemidji, Samuel (Karen) Long of Bemidji and Floyd (Sandy) Long of Britt, MN; 2 sisters, Lorie (John) Lundberg of Cheyenne, WY and JoAnn (Terry) Ayotte of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Steele; daughter, Verna Jean Steele; brothers, Arnold Long, Dale Long and Ivan Long; sister, Ruby Deleware and grandson, Corey Warpula.
