Mabel (Mabe) Ritchie Westling Brandt

Mabel (Mabe) Ritchie Westling Brandt passed away peacefully early Tuesday, June 4, at the age of 90, at her apartment in Countryside Village in Grants Pass, OR. She was born on March 18, 1923 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Absie and Mabel Ritchie. She was the youngest of six, Harold, Clarence, Carl, Don and Donna.

She was preceded in death by her late husbands, John William Westling (married for 44 years) and to Roy Brandt (married for 13 years).

This loving mother/grandmother/great-grandmother is survived by her four sons Mike, Craig, Bill and Scott; grandchildren Craig, Kaya, Ellison, Carley, Jesse, Ryan, John Dale, and Justin; great-grandchildren Riley, Hollis, Catie, Sierra, Maddy, Calvin, Carly, Ethan, Luke, Thaylo, Thomas, and Audrey.

Mabe's family was her passion. Cooking and baking for this family was especially joyful, both for her and the recipients. Although she had won baking contests at the Bemidji state fair as a teenager, her family particularly enjoyed devouring her cinnamon rolls.

Mabe was also a sports nut, following her Los Angeles Dodgers and the PGA golf tour. She was very proud of her 157 bowling average she carried one year in a league in Whittier, California and also having posted a score of 87 in a tournament at the Grants Pass Country Club. Bridge was also a passion for Mabe, even at the Countryside Village where she won her fair share of the quarters.

Mabe had recently asked when placing her obituary notice to please let people know that her family was her life and that she was lucky to have had an abundance of love from both her family and friends.
