Mabel Annetta (Nelson) Stormo, 93, of Clearbrook, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook, with the Rev. Verlyn Strenge officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley. Burial will be, in the spring, in the Solway Cemetery in Solway.
She was born Sept. 3, 1915, to Holgar and Julia (Sand) Nelson in Chester, Iowa. When she was 13, her family moved to Solway to be near family. In 1935, she married George Stormo in Decorah, Iowa. They farmed and raised a family in the Solway area.
She was a member of the Solway Lutheran Church until 1976, when they retired and moved to Clearbrook. Later, they moved to the Red Pine Apartments in Bemidji. She was a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed working with farm animals, embroidery, quilting and cooking. She and her husband also enjoyed music and dancing.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Janice) Stormo of Clearbrook; daughter, Ilene (Herb) Kienast of Toronto, S.D.; son, Jerry (Kim) Stormo of East Grand Forks, Minn.; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Henry and Gerhard.
