In Saturday morning’s action Maas suffered his first loss in the tournament as the sophomore was edged 5-4 in three overtimes by Sam Bennyhoff of Mound-Westonka in the 113-point championship semifinals.

Maas (39-4) will face Trevor Westerlund of Albert Lea Saturday afternoon in the consolation semifinals. If Maas wins that match he will wrestle for third place. A loss would drop Maas into the fifth-place match.

Crosby is in a similar spot in the 126-pound division and he will face Austin Jordan of Stillwater in today’s consolation semifinals.

Crosby (37-4) defeated Dakota Wangsness of Albert Lea 8-3 Saturday morning in the consolation quarterfinals.

Lumberjack Kade Johnson saw his state experience come to an end as the 170-pound wrestler was pinned in 2:33 by Ethan Loosbrock of Chaska in Saturday’s consolation quarterfinals.

Johnson ended his season with a 39-6 record.

Andrew Nissen of Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena also fell in Saturday’s consolation quarterfinals in the Class A 106-pound division.

Nissen lost 10-2 to Brendon Coyer of Osakis. The sophomore finished the winter 33-9.
