Lumberjacks: Bemidji boys tennis team edges EGF 4-3
GRAND FORKS -- A sweep of the doubles matches proved to be the difference Thursday as the Bemidji boys tennis team nipped East Grand Forks 4-3 at the Choice Fitness Center in Grand Forks.
The Green Wave claimed three of the four singles matches but BHS captured all three of the doubles battles in straight sets.
At first doubles Gabe Heifort and Robert Treuer posted a 6-2, 6-0 triumph and the second doubles tandem of Kole Pankow and Garrett Atteberry duplicated that score on way to its win.
Completing the sweep were Rocky Copiskey and Spencer Konecne who teamed for a 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 victory at third doubles.
The lone Lumberjacks’ singles win was posted by Sam Howard who stopped Jacob Cote 6-3, 6-4 at third singles.
Matt Hokanson dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision at first, Noah Holter fell 6-1, 6-3 at second and Evan White tumbled 6-4, 3-6, (10-8) at fourth.
Thursday’s victory was Bemidji’s fourth in as many dual meets. The Jacks will try to extend their season-opening winning streak Tuesday when they visit Detroit Lakes.
