PARK RAPIDS -- The Bemidji boys golf team shot a little worse than they did Friday but it didn't stop them from finishing fourth out of ten teams at the East-West Classic Saturday, hosted by Detroit Lakes.
The Lumberjacks scored 311 Friday and 315 on Saturday for a total of 626.
"We were a couple strokes worse today, but we were still pretty consistent," Bemidji head coach Seth Knudson said.
Detroit Lakes (293-311-604) and West Fargo (300-304-604) tied for first but the Lakers got the nod over the Packers because the tiebreaker went to the best fifth golfer.
Moorhead finished third above Bemidji with 301-311-612.
Saturday's round took place at Headwaters Golf Club in Park Rapids.
Detroit Lakes' Brian Buckellew was the tournament medalist, carding 71-73-144.
The Lumberjacks once again had three golfers shoot in the 70s: Trey Dale (75-78-153), Zack Rickers (78-78-156) and Ryan Erickson (81-79-160).
"We're capable of bringing six guys who are capable of shooting well," Knudson said. "If we can get at least four of our six guys to compete at their best at sections, we can compete with the best of them."
The BHS golfers have one more regular season meet this season; they'll travel to the Melrose Invitational at Greystone Thursday.
