Luella G. Schurmann, 79, of Frazee, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at St. Mary's Innovis Health, Detroit Lakes.
Luella was born to George and Lillie (Arneson) Skogen in Pelican Rapids. She graduated from high school in Detroit Lakes in 1948, then attended business school in Detroit Lakes. Lu moved to Minneapolis and became a bookkeeper at Fabri-Tek, Inc., where she retired from in 1994 after 38 years of service.
Lu married Harold Schurmann in 1978. They made their home in Maple Grove, Minn. In 1995 they moved to their lake home north of Park Rapids, and became "winter Texans" at their winter home in Pharr, Texas. In 2002, Harold and Lu moved three miles southwest of Frazee.
Lu's hobbies included fishing, sewing and decorating. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews as they were growing up. Her poodles were her pride and joy.
Surviving Lu are her husband, Harold; two brothers, Kenneth (Arlene) Skogen of Elk Point, S.D., and Donald (Donna) Skogen of Maple Grove; six special nieces and nephews and three dear step-grandchildren.
Preceding Lu was preceded in death were her parents and a sister, Deloris.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes.
