Lueken's legacy helps food shelf program
I am humbled by the generous community support in the recent Lueken's Village Foods fundraiser event to support the "Honoring Deland" Bemidji Community Food Shelf meat program. We recently processed our second 500-pound batch of ground beef and now have a reserve fund available for the next few months. It is distressing to see how quickly the beef is distributed, being made aware of the need in our community, yet it is refreshing to realize that our community steps forward to offer a helping hand.
This past week has been a sad time with the passing of Joe Lueken. He was instrumental in making the meat program possible. I am proud to see Lueken's Village Foods continue his legacy of giving. Joe's spirit of generosity continues to touch others.
