Lucille Skjaret, 90, of Bemidji, formerly of Bagley, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Neilson Place in Bemidji.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley with the Rev. Verlyn Strenge officiating.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1919, to Elmer and Ruth (Archer) McDowell in Harrison, Idaho. At age 16, she moved to Spokane, Wash. She married Frank McKinney in Spokane. Frank died during World War II. She married Harry Collett Nov. 1, 1946; they later divorced. In 1960, she moved to Alida, Minn. She married Harold Skjaret on Feb. 15, 1961, in Shevlin. In 1971, they sold their farm and moved to Bagley. She was employed as a dietician at Greensview Nursing Home in Bagley from 1969-1993. Harold died in 1992. In 2006, she moved to Neilson Place.
She is survived by her- daughters, Rose Marie Carson of Spokane, Jean McFarlane of Browerville, Minn., and Irene Eierdam of Spokane; son, Sean Malone of Pine River, Minn.; a daughter-in-law; sister, Beryl Cahill of Idaho; brother, Ed Purdy of Idaho; 14 grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert McKinney; infant daughter, Cindy Lou; husbands and brothers, George McDowell and Delbert Purdy.
