Lucille M. Boyer

Lucille M. Boyer, 90, of Bemidji, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at Goldpine Home in Bemidji.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evangelical Covenant Church in Bemidji with the Rev. Mark Hovestol officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Bradley Salo, Valerie Hess, Wesley Salo, Sherise Grace, Derek Neumann, Vicki Daniels, Becky Hall and Tony Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews Robert and Anita Spangler, Max and Bev Boyer, Kenny Spangler, Joanne Lalond, Susan Sylvester, Lonny Wild, Larry Wild and Connie Hanson.

She was born Nov. 5, 1918, to John and Bertha (Wheeler) Spangler in Turtle River. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1936. She married Mark (Jim) Boyer Sept. 18, 1937, in Bemidji. She worked for Lakeland Farmers Insurance Company for 12 years and retired in 1981.

She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church, where she served as church deaconess for seven years, and the local and district Covenant Women's Ministry treasurer for several years. She was active in the sewing group, the funeral committee and in different Bible studies. She belonged to Beltrami Nursing Home Auxiliary and was treasurer for the board for four years. She volunteered at the nursing home and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. She also was a member of the Hearth and Home Homemakers group.

She enjoyed being with and playing games with her family and friends.

She is survived her daughters, Annette (Will) Salo of Duluth, Luanne (Paul) Neumann of Fairbanks, Alaska, Barbara (Greg) Hall of Bemidji and Deborah (Rocky) Gerber of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, William "Bill" and James; sister, Helen Wild; and a granddaughter.

The family requests memorials to Evangelical Covenant Church.
