Lu Ann Auchter, 67
Lu Ann Auchter, 67, of Puposky, died on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji with Rev. Jay Borchert officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Our Redeemer's Cemetery in Puposky.
Honorary pallbearers will be Karel Knutson, Wendell Knutson, Art Hovde, Pat Morgan, Earl Speckman and Bob Kaasa.
Pallbearers will be Scott Pemberton, Larry Schmidt, Gary Knutson, Larry Knutson, Jon Morgan and Dan Edens.
She was born on May 31, 1939, to Loyd and Lois (Farrell) Huff, in Bemidji. She was raised and educated in Bemidji, graduating in 1957 from Bemidji High School. She married Iald Auchter on Aug. 23, 1956, in Bemidji. She worked at the Lake Julia Rest Home in the 1960s until it closed. She spent a few years at home raising her children and leading the local 4-H Club. In 1979, she managed Shirt Works in the Paul Bunyan Mall, and later went to work for Spaulding Motors for a few years. She managed the Nutcracker snack shop in the mall for four years before retiring in 1997.
She played the accordion. On Memorial Day she would visit area cemeteries, and accompany Rev. Truman Daniels while he sang. She enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, watching birds and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
She is survived by her husband of Puposky; sons, Keith Auchter of Simi Valley, Calif., and Lyle Auchter of California City, Calif., daughters, Karen (Carl) Sukert of Bemidji and Tami (Bob Karbowski) Granmo of Bemidji; and a daughter-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ialdene Auchter; son, Tom Auchter; and brothers, Gisle Borlaug and Brad Huff.
