Lowell Allen DeSart

Lowell Allen DeSart, 80, of Devine Texas, went home to be with the Lord on June 14th, 2014 in Hondo, Texas.

Born to Leland Arthur and Ruth Elanor DeSart in Lake City, Iowa on April 21st, 1934, Lowell grew up in and graduated from high school in Lake City. After graduation, he moved to Paynesville, Minnesota, where he enlisted in the Navy. He served his country from 1956-1962 when he was honorably discharged. He was married to his wife Coral (Loken) for 56 years, and in this union shared two children, Scott Allen DeSart in 1959 and Cynthia Kay Martinez (DeSart) in 1962.

Lowell and Coral owned Greggs Builders Supplies in Bemidji, Minnesota for 5 years before relocating to Devine, Texas. He had a love of Arabian horses with his wife and daughter, where they won numerous awards and horse competitions. He worked at Crest Metal Doors in San Antonio, Texas where he was the head of sales until retirement.

After retirement, as a pastime, Lowell did beautiful woodwork projects, craft shows, traveled, enjoyed football and basketball, spend summers in Minnesota, enjoyed breakfast at his favorite breakfast joints "The Boiler" and "Emma's" with friends, enjoyed movie dates and dinner with his wife every Saturday and enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father Leland DeSart, mother Ruth DeSart, daughter Cynthia Kay Martinez, brother Gary DeSart, sister Sarah Jane Huebsch, and grandson Baby Rudy Martinez.

He is survived by his wife Coral, son Scott and wife Cathy DeSart, son in law Rudy Martinez, grandaughter Amanda Zerr and husband H, grandson Aaron Dahlen and wife Dana, granddaughters Megan and Mariah Martinez, and grandson Montana Martinez.

There will be a memorial service Thursday June 19th, from 6-8 p.m. at Divine Savior Lutheran church in Devine, Texas, 405 Ingram Road, Devine, Texas 78016.
