Lorraine Dietrich, 82, of Blackduck, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck, with the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck, with a prayer service at 5:45 p.m., and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Quiring Union Cemetery in Quiring, Minn.
Pallbearers will be Brian Schaar, Mike Leino, Greg Sorheim, Tim Freeman, Jerry Romine and Judy Reisch.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Lorraine's friends and neighbors.
She was born June 24, 1926, to Henry and Margaret (Shoaf) Smith in Minneapolis. She attended various schools and graduated from high school. She started her working career at Kemps Ice Cream until she married Delmar "Bud" Dietrich. She had three children and raised her family in St. Anthony Village, Minn. She worked at Waldorf Cleaners for 20 years, retiring in 1981. They then moved to Quiring Township, for retirement, to be near her family. She was a former member of the Patchwork Pal Homemakers Club in Quiring Township. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casinos and doing crossword puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed making quilts to sell at the Blackduck Wood Carver's Festival.
She is survived by her children, Joe Dietrich of Blackduck and Diana (Frank) Mistic of Nebish; brothers, Robert (Louise) Smith of Plymouth, Minn. and Ronald (Pam) Smith of New Mexico; sister, Dolores (Joe) Piazza of Minneapolis; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Martin; brothers, Russell and Richard Smith; and sister, Jeanne Mandile.
