Lois M. Olson
Lois Marcella (MaGaurn) Olson, 88, of Bemidji, died Oct. 6, 2012, in Bemidji.
She was born Feb. 16, 1924 in Bemidji to Olga and Clarence MaGaurn. She married Richard W. Olson on April 27, 1946 at First Presbyterian Church in Bemidji.
In the early years of their marriage, they lived in Whitefish, Mont. and the Bay Area in California. They returned to Bemidji with their three children in 1954. In 1964, they opened Colonial Kitchen across from the old Bemidji High School and operated it for thirty years.
Over the years, Lois was involved in various activities. She was a member of the Bemidji Town and Country Club and the Bemidji Curling Club. She also participated in several bridge clubs. In her later years, she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
Lois enjoyed socializing with friends and family, music, dancing, reading, nature, fashion and gambling.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Michael) Richards of Minnetonka, Minn. and Marcia (Alex Young) Indahl of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Daniel Dokken, Laura Dok-ken, Jana Dokken Bridenstine, Brady Richards, Christina Indahl Lauver and Janel Olson Novachis, all of Minneapolis, and Joseph Indahl of Anchorage; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011; her son, Rick Olson in 1992; her parents; her sister, Edythe MaGaurn Johnson; two brothers, Clarence “Mickey” MaGaurn and Elton MaGaurn; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Minnesota Avenue NW, Bemidji, Minn.
