Kidnapping suspect formally charged

Local volunteers recognized

BEMIDJI-- Churches United has recognized Kieth Fenner and Jackie Welle as "Someone Special Volunteers."

Fenner serves as vice-chair of Churches United, representing Malvik Lutheran Church. He has volunteered over 200 hours with past experiences as a certified nursing assistant, foster parent and as assistant to the staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. All have proven to be great assets to Churches United.

Welle began as a volunteer, became a board representative and finally board secretary. She has donated plenty and helped write a grant to George W. Nielson Foundation, which brought $4,000 for new computer equipment and software. Welle retired from Churches United this year and will be missed by volunteers, board members and clients.

The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize "Someone Special Volunteers" who have made significant contributions to the community.

To nominate a volunteer, or for more information, contact the United Way of Bemidji Area 444-8929, admin@unitedwaybemidji.org, or visit their website www.unitedwaybemidji.org.
