Local student does nonprofit work
BEMIDJI – Danielle Paris of Bemidji participated in a Spring Alternative Break trip with Iowa State University from March 17-23.
Paris is one of 11 students that participated in a trip to Atlanta, Ga. to work with Refugee Family Services, an agency that aids refugee families in becoming accustomed to their new lives in the U.S. and provides an afterschool program for youth.
The Students Activities Center at Iowa State University is sponsoring five spring service trips this year.
The objective of the Alternative Breaks program is to involve college students in service projects and to give students opportunities to learn about the problems faced by community members. The other Spring Alternative Break trips will be working across the U.S. with nonprofits serving children, Native Americans, home insecurity, and the environment.
