Voters in Red Lake approved a maximum effort capital loan referendum for the Red Lake School District for $35 million in public works bonding from the Minnesota Legislature. Red Lake voters approved the referendum 53-7.

District 31 school board candidates vied for three spots on the Kelliher School Board.

There were three official candidates, but one write-in candidate received the third-most votes.

Incumbent Edward Gehlert received 126 votes, Barbara Woltjer received 112 votes, and Robert Hoyum received 44 votes.

Write-in candidate Jerry Geerdes received 86 votes and, if he accepts the position, will be elected over Hoyum.

Each elected ISD 36 board member will commit to four-year posts to the six-member board.
