Local police officers earn awards from AVCAM

On April 29, Bemidji Police Department officers Matthew Bahl and Eric Rypkema were presented with awards for their work on an automobile theft which occurred in February.

The awards were sent from the Anti-Vehicle Crime Association of Minnesota (AVCAM) to recognize the officers for successfully arresting an adult male for stealing a car from a residence in Bemidji. The car and suspect were located within minutes of the owner reporting the theft and an interview of the suspect revealed that he had intended on keeping the car for an undetermined length of time.

The vehicle was returned quickly to its owner and the suspect was taken into custody without incident or danger to the public.
