WAYLAND, Mass. – After four days of competition at the USA Junior Men’s Curling Championships, the team containing two local curlers is now on top in the standings.

The Korey Dropkin rink of Massachusetts, which features Bemidji’s Alex Fenson as the lead and Mark Fenner as the second, are now 5-1 overall after six matches, leading the standings in the 10-team competition, which began Saturday and ends Friday.

Scott Dunnam of Pennsylvania, Jeremy Stubbe of Wisconsin, Jake Vuckich of Washington and Tony Wright of Minnesota were tied for second place with 4-2 records.

Dropkin won both of its draws today.

Against the Timothy Hodak rink of North Dakota in the early match, Dropkin won easily, topping Hodak 8-2. Dropkin scoring three in each of the first two ends and scored one each in the fourth and eighth to come out on top.

In the late match, Dropkin topped Ryan Flippo of Alaska 7-4.

The Dropkin rink is scheduled to play just one match today; they’ll take on the Wright rink of Minnesota at 11 a.m. Central time.
