Local Ace store in national contest
BEMIDJI -- The local Ace on the Lake hardware store has made the cut in a birthday cake contest sponsored by Ace Hardware. The challenge for all Ace Hardware stores across the globe was to make a "birthday cake" out of products in the store. The Ace on the Lake store in Bemidji placed in the top 15 nationwide in the contest.
However, the overall winner will be determined through online voting, officials said. People can go onto Facebook and search for Ace Hardware and the click on the "like" button for Ace on the Lake's cake, local officials said. Voting ends Friday. The local "cake" was created by Jay Rogers, Jessi Johnson and Scott Carlson.
Ace Hardware has approximately 4,700 stores internationally. The company was founded in Chicago in 1924.
