Lions Club seeks new members
BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Lions Club is seeking civic-minded adult men and women of all ages to join the club.
The local Lions club has 87 members. Worldwide, the Lions Club International is the largest service club organization with 1.35 million members in 207 countries.
An information session will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 20 at the Hampton Inn, 1019 Paul Bunyan Drive SE.
"Our club gives members an opportunity to advance worthy causes, serve with friends and beome leaders in the community," Ron Porter, local Lions Club president, said in a press release.
Most recently, the Bemidji Lions Club has donated nearly $15,000 to more than 30 organizations, including nearly $6,000 to 15 youth-related organizations, the release said.
Lions 5M10 District Governor Larry Winner will speak to Wednesday's event and talk about the Lions' efforts to help support finding a cure for diabetes.
